ShiftledgerDemo

Record the shifts you worked, see what they are worth.

A place to keep the hours you actually worked, priced by rules you set up yourself, with your savings beside them. Built for shift work — evenings, nights, weekends and the breaks in between.

How it works

  1. Type when you workedA start, a finish and the breaks, one line per day. A finish at or before the start is a night shift, not a mistake — 16:00 to 03:00 is eleven hours.
  2. Set the rules onceWhat an hour is worth, and which hours attract which rate: a percentage plus the window, the weekdays or the threshold it applies in. Configuration, not code.
  3. Everything else followsNothing is stored as a total, so correcting a shift you typed wrongly in March corrects every figure derived from it — that week, that month, and the average hour.

What is in it

  • WeekThe grid you type into: Monday to Sunday, breaks as real times, the whole week saved in one go.
  • OverviewThis week, this month, and the last shift you actually recorded — with what it was worth.
  • RatesEvening, night, weekend, overtime. One rate per hour, the higher percentage wins, and nothing overlaps twice.
  • Pay & contractThe hourly wage a rate multiplies, effective-dated, so a pay rise never moves last month's totals.
  • CalendarThe month at a glance, whole weeks at a time, so the days either side carry real figures instead of blanks.
  • SavingsWhat you set aside, kept strictly apart from what is only projected. Interest is projected; interest that arrives is an entry.

The week grid, the overview, the calendar, the rates, the pay screen and the savings ledger are free and always will be — and so is getting your records out again. Payslips set beside your estimates, what-if pricing, saved projections, planning backwards from a target and editing an entry in full come with a paid tier; you are told which, and never sold anything from inside a screen.

Three ideas it is built on

  • Nothing is assumedTime no rate covers is reported as unpriced, never guessed at.
  • A dated change never rewrites the pastA pay rise is a new version from a date, so last month stays what last month was.
  • Money is rounded exactly onceExact integer cents, rounded per line, so the lines always add up to the total.

There is also deliberately no notion of hours expected of you. That could only come from a roster, which this does not hold — so rather than show a balance against zero and call it information, it reports what you recorded and what it is worth.

What it is not

Every figure it shows is an estimate calculated from rules you configure. It is not payroll, tax, legal or investment software, it does not talk to your employer, and it has no idea what your payslip will say. What it is good at is telling you what your own rules come to, and showing the arithmetic.

Your hours and wages are visible to you alone. Signing in is Google and nothing else; Google shares your name, e-mail address and picture, and nothing is written back to your Google account.

It is a demo, and says so

This is a demo version of Shiftledger. It is kept running rather than switched off between changes, and it gains features over time — so screens will change, and things that are not here yet may well be later. If there is something you want to see, say so from Contact: proposals go into the same queue as everything else and are read.
